The Haunted House (La Casa Encantada) is a music show on KUSF.org radio in San Francisco.
This is the first show, aired on Sept. 13 2013. It being Friday the 13th, the show was dedicated to la mala pata, bad luck itself. We had songs of trouble and misfortune by Ma Rainey, Blind Lemon Jefferson, Lydia Mendoza, Big Mama Thornton, Lena Machado, Patato Valdés, Jorge Ben, Yma Sumac, Guarachacos, Franco & OK Jazz, Fairuz and many more. Cumbias, blues, hulas, sambas, mambos, soukous and many other sounds from all around the world. The salutation to los santos was provided by Celina y Reutilio with their immortal "A Santa Bárbara". Maferefún Changó!
This was great! I have very catholic tastes in music, and I've always thought the best kind of music program would be one just like this. I especially loved the sequence of Patato Valdes, Jorge Ben, and the cumbia that followed. Thanks for all the background information, too.
