Back To the Dungeons (2nd Strike) - Show # 75 - April 22, 2016

Dear Inmates,

As you may or may not remember, recently the House was shaken to its 5th Dimensional foundations by the escape attempt of Popoff.

Last week we debated the terms of his freedom and today we are putting all our house creatures back in the ball and chain, because we are merciful and the system works. Dura lex, sed lex!

So abandon all hope you who enter here, and put on your dancing shackles!

For today we sing and talk once more about prisons, lack of freedom, mind-forged manacles, ball and chains, and we take you on a tour of the clink, the slammer, the big house, the can, the pen, the cooler, the skookum house, the pokey and the hoosegow!

Popoff and your Ghost prepare today's tunes: Sing, popoff, sing!

Now this is our kind of prison:

Songs of Freedom - Show # 74 - April 15, 2016

The escaped Popoff comes back into the House today and demands new conditions and freedom from the Gorgeous Tyranny of your Ghost Host (voted Most Beloved Dictator in 2015!). For this reason we talk about freedom and escaping, the limits of freedom and all that free jazz. And of course we play sweet songs of freedom.

We ask the important questions:

- Is freedom free? If so, how so? How free?
- If freedom is free, where do we get two of those?
- If it's not, how much is it? Can you purchase it in installments?
- Do we really have any freedom of choice, or is it all a Fateful plan and Popoff is just fulfilling the master plan of your Ghost?
- Do hamsters think they are free to run that wheel? Do they really like cheese? And in that case, which one best? Are they really free to choose between a Gouda and an Red Leicester?

We'll discuss the freedom of the goblins, the limited incarceration of bats and gremlins and the abolition of waterboarding for our toads and octopuses.

Today we also celebrate the anniversary of the proclamation of the SPANISH REPUBLIC (April 14 1931), and that brief but beautiful moment when Spain was FREE for the first and, alas, last time.

Loneliness - Show # 73 - April Fool's Day 2016

Dear Loners,

It is a SAD and LONELY day at the Haunted House...

For Popoff, given too much freedom, has run away and can't be found in any part of the house.

Goblins have raided the basement, the Thing Room, the Fifth Dimensional Bathtub, the Indian Cemetery in our yard and even the guest dungeons.
No tombstone has been left unturned!
No dimension has been spared!

And yet Popoff is nowhere to be found (while usually, he would be found just a little to the left of nowhere)...

So your Ghost Host discusses with himself LONELINESS through MUSIC,
With HANK WILLIAMS, HOWLING WOLF, MEMPHIS MINNIE, CHARLIE RICH, IKETTES, OS NOVOS BAIANOS, THE MAYTONES, JOHNNY THUNDERS, CHANTHARA OUTANSAKDA, BOBBY FULLER FOUR AND MORE!

What is the sound of one Ghost clapping?

And if a Ghost falls alone into a radio show and nobody listens, does it make a sound?

Abandon all company, ye who listen, and put on your mirror dancing shoes!

This show is dedicated to all of our lonesome friends in the audience that are in bed with broken elbows, a hurt foot or the flu. Alone in their bedrooms, they can listen and share our common solitude!

Your Ghost, trying to make friends:

"Better Alone Than With the Wrong Ghost!"

Your Ghost Host, preparing today's show:

Will Popoff come back, unannounced, in the middle of the show?
Will he be summoned back from the world of spirits?
Or is this ouija just a cheap rip-off?
Find out by clicking on the player above, at the top of this post!

Spring Showers and Crucifixions - Show # 72 - March 25 2016

Dear fellow spirits,

(see tracklist below)
We can't help it, our head is all over spring!

Ah, beware the flowers of love past!!
Ah, beware the rites of Spring!!

Sigh no more ladies, sigh no more!
Ghosts were deceivers ever,
So listen to our music show
And be all blithe and clever!

By the road to the contagious sounds, we celebrate the arrival of the Spring with a set of songs devoted to one of our four favorite seasons.

We enter the world naked, uncertain of everything save that we enter!
And that it's THIS time of the year again... SPRING!

Which, at the House, means the time for LOVE,
the time for CLEANING THE THING ROOM,
the time Popoff gets allergic to Ashplant, Chrysanthemum and Asphodel pollen,
the time to grow new creatures in the four-dimensional bathtub,

the time for RAIN, acid or not,
the time when cobwebs bloom,
when spirits get high and the ravens return,
the time when Christs bloom in their crosses
when ouija boards say "oui" to love
and people shoot their albatrosses!

A terrible beauty is born! (Well, thank you, says The Thing).

(Popoff, right, and your Ghost indicating him where to plant the petunias)
