CHEWING DADAS: A Very Absurd Show at La Casa Encantada - Show 41 - Jan 30 2015

As you may or may not know, Death is not final. Only parking lots.

That's why today, January the 30th, we hold a séance with two original poets who turn 90 and 80 years old this very day: Jack Spicer and Richard Brautigan.

With the help of these two friends of blue fishing and Galilee hitchhiking, we summon you to a surreal, dadaist and absurd show, specially in our music selections —yes, that means even more than the usual!
We'll go South of every border and down to hell and back!

This recording starts abruptly about 10 minutes into the show, so you lost our magical absurd beginning. The recording starts in the middle of track 3:
1 INTRO: “This ocean” - Jack Spicer
2 Snow Surfin’ Matador – Jan Davis
3 Esquilones de plata - Niña de los Peines
4 La gitana me ha dejado – Meridian Brothers
5 The Hurdy Gurdy Man – Donovan
6 Help, I’m a Rock – Frank Zappa
7 Death, When You Come to Me - Moondog
8- Mama Inez - Charlie Parker
9 Here Comes the Whistleman – Rashaan Roland Kirk
10 Fletcher Henderson - Alabamy Bound
11 Nagasaki – Django Reinhardt
12 Samisen Boogie Woogie - Jane Itai
And we did not have time for this:

13-  Rabbit Dance - Sioux Chant
14- Little Rabbit/Rabbit Where's Your Mammy - Crockett Family Mountaineers
15- Cobardía - Melcochita

Here you have track 2, "Snow Surfing Matador":

And here's Spicer's opening poem:

This ocean, humiliating in its disguises
Tougher than anything.
No one listens to poetry. The ocean
Does not mean to be listened to. A drop
Or crash of water. It means
Nothing.
It
Is bread and butter
Pepper and salt. The death
That young men hope for. Aimlessly
It pounds the shore. White and aimless signals. No
One listens to poetry.

CIVIL RIGHTS and RACISM at La Casa Encantada - Show 40 - Jan 23 2015

In our nation-wide LIVE response to the POTUS' State of the Nation Speech and to the memory of Martin Luther King, your Ghost Host and Popoff are back today with a one-hour special, devoted to yet one more light, uplifting theme: racism, injustice, inequality and opression.

LISTEN UNDER YOUR OWN RISK:
- We might have risqué and weird stuff that makes us all feel uncomfortable and questioning our own prejudices...
- We might have mysterious tricksters and bizarre metaphors that perhaps talk about more things than we think...
All while we keep on dancing!

With Nina Simone, Leadbelly, Chavela Vargas, The Upsetters, Arsenio Rodriguez, John Fahey, the Skillet Lickers, Lead Belly, Don Tostis Quartette, Peter Tosh and more!
